Music collections have definitely gotten weirder as streaming corrupts even the most devout collectors. I am no exception. Here are the albums which were released in 2022 that I "added to my Library". In the past I've included any music that I came across, ignoring when it was released. I'm too lazy for that amount of work now, so it's been limited to released during the year. In some instances I was able to purchase the music directly from the artist. I would like to see more of that. Especially in colored vinyl.
- K.Flay’s double EP Inside Voices / Outside Voices was absolutely fantastic.
- White Lies As I Try Not To Fall Apart is very White Lies.
- Bloc Party Alpha Games. Bloc Party for me is now a lot like Björk, in that I was really into the music...and then I wasn’t.
- Killing Joke Lord of Chaos EP I mean…why not?
- Wet Leg Wet Leg Like everybody else in the world, I grabbed it. It's good. Reminders of early Elastica. Note that it doesn't sound like Elastica, just that there are sounds that remind me of Elastica.
- Jack White Fear of the Dawn is pretty damn raucous.
- Arcade Fire WE while whatshisname may be a creep, The Lighting II was on heavy repeat for me.
- The Black Keys Dropout Boogie is very Black Keys.
- Scapegoat Wax Atomic Slam (Back to 99!) I first heard the track Reckless before I knew anything about Scapegoat Wax and figured this was going to be a huge, huge hit. And, it is for me. I love this track.
- The Kills No Wow (The Tchad Black Mix 2022) Gritty
- µ-Ziq Magic Pony Ride beep beep boop boop!
- Liam Gallagher C’MON YOU KNOW You know, Oasis but not Oasis.
- Metric Formentera. Fantastic album.
- Interpol The Other Side of Make-Believe Maybe I haven't listened enough, but it's been tough to get into new Interpol stuff.
- Jamie T The Theory of Whatever A very fun album.
- Orbital 30 Something A really nice collection of tracks/mixes.
- Kasabian The Alchemist’s Euphoria It's just odd without the original lead singer.
- Santigold Spirituals is very nice.
- KMFDM Hyëna is very "new" KMFDM.
- Built to Spill When the Wind Forgets Your Name
- Secret Machines Secret Machines They opened for Metric on tour.
- Yeah Yeah Yeahs Cool It Down. Spitting Off the Edge of the World is perfect.
- Pixies Doggerel didn't quite grab me like Beneath the Eyrie did.
- Vacant Lots Closure
- Kid Cudi Entergalactic
- Broken Bells INTO THE BLUE
- Dropkick Murphys This Machine Still Kills Fascists If the title sounds familiar, it's Woody Guthrie you're looking for.
- The 1975 Being Funny In A Foreign Language
- Arctic Monkeys The Car
- Fitz and The Tantrums Set Yourself Free
- Leftfield This Is What We Do seemingly out of retirement? Maybe?
